  • Seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support work at the US EPA National Center for Computational Toxicology in Durham, NC.

  • This is a new position to utilize DevOps best practices to improve and automate the development, deployment, and delivery processes, working from beginning to end, including finalizing the selection of tools, technologies and automation processes.

  • Development activities will include continuous integration, continuous delivery, continuous testing, and continuous monitoring.

  • Selected candidate will work collaboratively with the software engineering teams to design continuous integration best practices, deploy applications and automate operations and processes.

  • Implement an automated process for product delivery and full lifecycle management

  • Apply best practices to the configuration, build, release, and defect management processes.

  • Support application development teams.

  • Write clear technical documentation of the developed processes and automation for use by developers, system administrators, and testers.

  • Interpret requirements and perform analyses to ensure that objectives are met.

  • Perform other duties as required.


  • Bachelor degree preferably in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience. Additional education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must possess expertise in the following: Linux 6 & 7; Linux shell scripting environments such as bash; Software source control tools such as Git Build, test; and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Vagrant, SonarQube, Logstash, Docker and Selenium Configuration management, build management, release process and defect management.
  • Knowledge of IaaS best practices.
  • Participation in Agile/Scrum development practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work individually, and as a member of a team, on multiple projects simultaneously.
