Responsibilities

CSS is seeking an experienced System Administrator with a strong background in Windows, Red Hat Linux, Cisco, and VMware environments at our Exploration Park / Kennedy Space Center location.

 

Provide support in performing standard system administration including the installation, configuration, operation, management, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, monitoring, and maintaining server systems that provide the core and functional services/systems for the organization’s networks.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science.
  • 5+ years’ recent experience in Windows system administration (both desktop and server).
  • 2+ years’ recent experience in Linux system administration, CentOS 6/7 administration experience is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding and experience with VMware vSphere 5/6, Veeam Backup & Replication, and EMC VNX storage systems.
  • Understand TCP/IP concepts, subnetting, routing protocols and be able to troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues.
  • Ensure the compliance with IT security driven tasks and configurations within the server/network infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager and are able to deploy devices and configure/manage voicemails for end users.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) as well as the ability to configure and troubleshoot domain authentication within ISE.
  • Working knowledge of Windows PowerShell and Unix shell scripting for the purpose of automating tasks.
  • Make recommendations for commercial off-the-shelf (COTs) application upgrades and implementation of new applications.
  • Must be able to rack and configure servers, desktops, network gear, as well as install and terminate ethernet cable.
  • The candidate must be able to respond to scheduled or emergency events during off hours.
  • Some travel to/from sites within Kennedy Space Center is required.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work on ladders when required.
